REAL MAN · Care and materials

The correct care depends on the material and finish, not the colour or the buckle. Check the product information before choosing a cleaner.

Check the material first

These leather-care suggestions apply to genuine smooth leather. Suede, nubuck, patent, coated and synthetic straps need their own instructions. A photograph or an automatic buckle does not prove that a strap is leather.

Clean gently and dry naturally

  1. Remove dust using a soft dry cloth.
  2. If the maker permits it, use a barely damp cloth for a mark. Test a hidden area first; never soak the strap.
  3. Allow it to dry at room temperature, away from radiators and strong sun.
  4. Use conditioner only when it is appropriate for the actual material and finish. It may darken or change the sheen of leather.

Store without sharp folds

Hang the belt or coil it loosely in a dry, ventilated place. Avoid trapping a wet strap in a drawer. Keep care products away from an automatic buckle’s moving mechanism and toothed track. Do not force a faulty clasp.

Avoid household solvents, cooking oils and machine washing. Cracks, peeling and broken fastenings need assessment rather than more conditioner.

Check each recommended product’s own material description. Appearance in this guide does not by itself establish that a belt is genuine leather.
